Integrations connect Orvlin to the systems around billing: tax engines, your CRM, your accounting books, your data warehouse, and cloud marketplaces. Each workspace connects its own accounts from the Integrations page. Credentials are stored encrypted, and a connection only shows as Connected after Orvlin has verified it with the provider.

Tax

Avalara AvaTax and Anrok calculate sales tax on invoices.
  • Avalara needs an AvaTax account, a license key, and a company code.
  • Anrok needs an API key. Optionally, pick the Anrok product that carries your tax category.
Issued invoices are committed to the provider, so they appear in your tax returns. Voided invoices are voided there too. Previews use an uncommitted quote and create no liability. Customers need a country on their billing address for tax to be calculated. Customers without one are skipped with a warning rather than taxed as if they were somewhere else.
The default Avalara tax code is SW054000, which is commonly used for SaaS. Avalara distinguishes codes by delivery method and by business or personal use. Confirm the right code with your tax advisor.
Nexus, exemption certificates, and tax filing stay in Avalara’s or Anrok’s own dashboards. Orvlin sends them transactions; it does not replace their compliance tooling.

CRM

Customers sync first, then their invoices. Syncs are idempotent: unchanged records are skipped and changed ones are updated in place. Failures are retried with backoff and listed at GET /v1/integrations/failures.

Accounting

QuickBooks Online and Xero sync customers, invoices, payments, and voids. Connect with the Connect button; you sign in to the vendor and approve access. What syncs, every 10 minutes:
  • Customers become QuickBooks Customers or Xero Contacts. An existing customer or contact with the same name is linked, not duplicated.
  • Invoices (open, paid, and void, never drafts) are numbered with the Orvlin invoice number. Tax Orvlin calculated is sent as its own line.
  • Payments are recorded against the invoice when it is paid in Orvlin.
  • Voids are voided in the books too.
After connecting, set the connection’s settings:
  • QuickBooks: the item that invoice lines post to. Until it is set, only customers sync.
  • Xero: the revenue account code (default 200), and the bank account code that payments are recorded against.
Sync is one-way, from Orvlin to your books. A payment recorded directly in QuickBooks or Xero does not mark the Orvlin invoice paid.

Data warehouse

Invoices, line items, customers, subscriptions, credits, and usage events are exported every 10 minutes, or on demand with Export now. Every exported row has id, account_id, exported_at, and data (the full record). Exports are append-only, so take the latest row per id:
Each run exports up to 5,000 rows per dataset and continues on the next run, so the first export of a large account takes several runs. Check progress on the card, or at GET /v1/integrations/warehouse/status.

Cloud marketplaces

Connect AWS Marketplace, Azure Marketplace, or Google Cloud Marketplace to sell through a marketplace listing. Each one needs:
  1. A listing with metered dimensions. Note the dimension names.
  2. A dimension mapping from your Orvlin metric names to the marketplace’s dimensions, such as {"api_calls_total": "api_calls"}.
  3. A fulfilment step. When a buyer subscribes, the marketplace sends them to your sign-up URL with a token. Forward that token to Orvlin so it can link or create the customer.
Usage is reported to each marketplace once per hour. Events that arrive after an hour has been reported are not re-reported, because marketplaces reject duplicate records for a reported window. Google’s entitlement changes (plan changes and cancellations) arrive on Google’s Pub/Sub topic. Subscribe to it and call the entitlement endpoint as needed.

Troubleshooting

  • Connected, but nothing syncs: check the card’s error message, then press Reconnect if the provider revoked access.
  • Failed records: list them at GET /v1/integrations/failures and retry with POST /v1/integrations/failures/retry.
  • Tax is missing on an invoice: check that the customer has a country on their billing address.
